Arrival notes
Jeddah (JED): King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) handles most Umrah arrivals through Terminal 1; the separate Hajj Terminal operates only in Hajj season. Makkah is about 80–100 km by road (roughly 1–1.5 hours) or via the Haramain high-speed train from the airport station.
Madinah (MED): Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport is about 15–20 km from Masjid al-Nabawi. Many pilgrims fly into Madinah first and travel on to Makkah by Haramain train or road, entering ihram at the Dhul Hulaifah (Abyar Ali) miqat.
Best time to travel
Demand peaks in Ramadan (expected from 8 February 2027), the last ten nights, Hajj season (Dhul Hijjah, mid-May 2027) and December school holidays. Book Ramadan travel 3–4 months ahead; off-peak months (Rabi al-Awwal to Rajab outside holidays) have the widest choice of seats.
